Abstract:
Some airfields in the country suffer from macro drainage problem caused by several factors, such as: increasing urbanization, lack of capacity or maintenance the macro drainage system and even intensification of the rainfall patterns due to climate change. The Museu Aeroespacial (MUSAL), located in the Campo dos Afonsos, presents a history of flooding and consequent damage to the patrimony of the country. The Diretoria de Engenharia da Aeronáutica (DIRENG) conducted a preliminary analysis of the problem, being identified the need for deeper studies on the subject. This work identified and quantified the factors causing the floodings through: field visits, analysis of watershed contributions to the point under consideration, using a Geographic Information System (GIS); the survey of the physical variables of contribution area such as rainfall, soil type, type of land use and precise topography of the most important regions. For the analysis of rainfall, the case to be simulated was the rain of the day 31/01/2006, to validate the model implemented, and was established the IDF equation and the rain design, required for the resizing. From the information generated in the rainfall-runoff model (IPHS1) was observed that the water courses do not support the design flow, adopted for a return period of 25 years. A proposed solution was given to the problem of floodings in the hangars of MUSAL, which should ideally be integrated into the basin as a whole.
